Last Friday evening a full house welcomed ex-International Development Minister, Rt Hon Priti Patel MP, to the Broadway Hotel in Letchworth.
People from across the North Herts Constituency came to see one of the Conservative Party's most outspoken parliamentarians.
Her background as a local party activist ensured that her views reflected those of the many volunteers in the audience.
She spends a lot of her time speaking to Student Unions across the Country, putting across the Conservative message, and urged her fellow Conservatives to do likewise.
As a leading campaigner for Brexit, Priti supported the Prime Minister in her attempts to obtain a good deal with Europe. She reflected on the huge difficulties the PM faced in making a good deal and was full of praise for her tenacity and strength during the process.
She compared this to the vacuous view of the Labour opposition, who changed their views daily based upon the prevailing wind.
She finally reiterated her well known views on Britains international aid programmes. She continued to support their existence but urged even tougher controls on any misuse of grants
In thanking her for her much acclaimed speech, Rt Hon Sir Oliver Heald QC MP, recalled the early days of their co-operation when Priti was first elected to Parliament and found that they agreed on many issues.
